Celebrating ABSAP’s Journey
This timeline showcases the key moments that have shaped ABSAP into the vibrant, collaborative community it is today. From its grassroots beginnings to exciting new initiatives, these milestones reflect the dedication, innovation, and shared spirit of member schools that continue to drive ABSAP forward.

Kelley brings together alumni directors from the top 30 Full-Time MBA and top 30 Undergraduate business schools for a three-day knowledge-sharing summit. 26 professionals from 21 schools attend. To keep the momentum going, Kelley establishes a listserv and website to support year-round collaboration.
Kelley launches redesigned ABSAP website and expands the benchmarking survey to reflect industry changes, including advancements in technology and alumni career services.
An Advisory Council is established to provide strategic guidance and oversight for ABSAP’s initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and the evolving needs of member schools.
A school-based dues system is implemented to support ABSAP’s growth and sustainability. Member contributions fund an independent website, annual awards recognizing excellence, and other shared resources. All 42 eligible schools opt to continue as paid members, reinforcing their commitment to the community.
ABSAP launches its first award recognition program to celebrate outstanding initiatives and staff at member schools. Professional development opportunities also grow with the introduction of the organization’s first webinar, marking a new chapter in year-round learning and engagement.
The third iteration of the ABSAP website, absap.org, officially launches—marking a new level of independence and accessibility. A streamlined benchmarking survey continues to offer 24/7 access to downloadable, filterable data, supporting informed decision-making across member schools.
As the final step toward full independence from host school support, ABSAP establishes its own bank account. This milestone requires formal incorporation and the acquisition of a federal tax ID number, securing the organization’s financial and operational autonomy.
ABSAP launches a redesigned website featuring an integrated online payment portal for dues collection, streamlining administrative processes. A new newsletter is also introduced to keep primary representatives informed and connected year-round.
To comply with Illinois incorporation requirements, the Advisory Council formally transitions into a Board of Directors. Updated Bylaws are adopted to better reflect ABSAP’s current structure and operations. Membership remains strong, with 47 schools participating as paid members.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ABSAP Board of Directors pivots to host the organization’s first virtual conference, ensuring continued connection, collaboration, and professional development across member schools during an unprecedented time.
To foster quicker communication and peer support, ABSAP launches a WhatsApp group for member school professionals. The group provides a convenient space for real-time updates, resource sharing, and informal collaboration across the network.
In 2024, ABSAP launches two initiatives honoring foundational members of the organization. The Janice Headley Service to ABSAP Award recognizes individuals whose dedication has strengthened ABSAP’s mission and community. The John Sengenberger Conference Scholarship, established by the Board of Directors, supports participation for schools with limited resources, while honoring John’s long-standing leadership and commitment to expanding access.
